Change is Coming...

by Laura Thompson I haven't written anything in about a month, but today made me think of so many things and if we rewind the tape, we can clearly see that today's events, January 6, 2021, was a clear indication that the transfer of wealth and power have been threatened by those who have gotten comfortable in their positions of power and do not want to let go. We've all heard of unfinished business.  Well there is a force greater than all of us that reminds us that when enough is enough that force will set in and finish unscrupulous business abruptly. The greater power, the almighty will only let us go so far before he intervenes.  Today for most was a disastrous day, but for me it was a day of reckoning, a day of redirecting, a day of exposure, a day of victory, a day of truth, a day of protest.  A day that defines what America is made of. A day of reckoning for America shows how all of us have varying opinions of whats right and wrong.  We operate from different value s

GEORGIA ON MY MIND For this first time in many, many years, I believe that African Americans, Black people; whatever we choose to call ourselves finally understand the power of our vote.  No matter who you voted for in the General Election, what your beliefs are, who you backed; the bottom line is that you exercised your right to vote and IN RECORD NUMBERS. Joe Biden is our President Elect and Kamala Harris is our Vice President Elect and might I add, the highest ranking woman and African American woman ever to be selected and elected in the history of the United States. Some might say "isn't that enough?' or "we should be satisfied", but the reality of it is that to me "we should never be satisfied" but there is one final thing that needs to be done and African American voters have the power to do it. Of course not every registered voter is eligible to vote in the State that I am referring to, but the votes casts in Georgia in the U.S. Senate runoff e

Reflecting on Thankfulness  Happy Thanksgiving Everyone Things that we take for granted, things that we consider the little things...are actually the BIG things that we should always remember to be thankful for. Making sure there's a hot meal is on the table daily, may seem like a responsibility to the receiver, but it's actually quite a blessing.  Anything that we do or someone does for us takes time, effort, energy, and work. Appreciation is an action that some seldom take because we believe that if someone routinely blesses us that there's no need to say thank you. Well I would like to attest that "Thank you" goes a long way.  "I appreciate everything that you do for me" goes a long way.  And being thankful for the BIG little things makes the giver feel that what they do matters. So as you celebrate this Thanksgiving, make sure that you say what you should say every time someone gives of themselves to make life comfortable or better for you.  Say &quo

It's Been Awhile... Haven't posted anything in The African American Network blog, but today, I felt compelled to start back up!   It's almost Thanksgiving and 2020 has been filled with tosses and turns unlike no other.  Although life has changed a lot, there have been many blessings, preparation time, reflecting and soul searching opportunities that I have taken advantage of. Technology is an industry that I love and have followed and participated in on the surface for many years, but my friend Covid 19 has pushed me to really delve into the infrastructure of my business.  It has prepared me to do what it takes to position TAAN TV for the vision that was birthed in 1995.  Who would have thought that a pandemic  would become the saving grace of a business and bring a powerful vision to fruition.  Well, TAAN TV - The African American Network will flourish in 2021.  It's been a long time coming, but the help that we needed to enable it to bear fruit is finally here! For th
