Seven Charter members of Beta Kappa Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. returned to Huston-Tillotson University for the 60th Anniversary Celebration in Austin, Texas on February 10 , 2013.  On February 18, 1939, Alpha Nu was birthed on the campus of Tillotson College in Austin, Texas.  Alpha Mu Chapter was chartered on February 22, 1930, on the Campus of Samuel Huston College, Austin, Texas.  On March 7, 1953, Beta Kappa Chapter began a long exciting journey of sisterhood and service on the campus of Huston-Tillotson College, now Huston-Tillotson University.

TAAN TV on Three Platforms

In 1995, I had the vision to create a platform that would allow people to watch television via the Internet, so I registered "theafricanamericannetwork". I kept the name for all these years and I'm glad I did.

Since the idea popped into my head years ago, the Internet added more extensions, so four years ago, I registered www.taan.tv (which stands for the African American Network).  It is spelled TAAN, but pronounced "tan" like the color. We are super excited about the opportunity to provide viewers with content that they can relate to and opportunities for content providers to get their stories on the big screen.
We have a unique opportunity to provide a platform for videographers, photographers, makeup artists, directors, producers and more to give create input on film and television projects across the country.

Technology Makes it Easier to Watch Television on the GO!

Over 20 years ago, I had an opportunity to be at the very beginning of the Internet boom.  My job was to sell dial up Internet, ISDN connections and web design (websites).  Not a lot of companies or people were open to the idea of the Internet because it was so new.  Personally, I was very intrigued by everything about the Internet because I could see the possibilities that the Internet was able to provide.

As early as 1996, I had the idea to watch TV via the Internet.  I had absolutely no idea how it would work or if it would work, just thought it would be cool.

Fast forward from then to now, Internet television is out pacing cable television right now and continues to soar.  There are many ways to watch TV now and that vision about Internet television has come into fruition for me.
