TAAN TV on Three Platforms

In 1995, I had the vision to create a platform that would allow people to watch television via the Internet, so I registered "theafricanamericannetwork". I kept the name for all these years and I'm glad I did.

Since the idea popped into my head years ago, the Internet added more extensions, so four years ago, I registered www.taan.tv (which stands for the African American Network).  It is spelled TAAN, but pronounced "tan" like the color. We are super excited about the opportunity to provide viewers with content that they can relate to and opportunities for content providers to get their stories on the big screen.
We have a unique opportunity to provide a platform for videographers, photographers, makeup artists, directors, producers and more to give create input on film and television projects across the country.

Huston-Tillotson Beta Kappa Chapter, AKAs Celebrates 60 Years of Service

Seven Charter members of Beta Kappa Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. returned to Huston-Tillotson University for the 60th Anniversary Celebration in Austin, Texas on February 10 , 2013.  On February 18, 1939, Alpha Nu was birthed on the campus of Tillotson College in Austin, Texas.  Alpha Mu Chapter was chartered on February 22, 1930, on the Campus of Samuel Huston College, Austin, Texas.  On March 7, 1953, Beta Kappa Chapter began a long exciting journey of sisterhood and service on the campus of Huston-Tillotson College, now Huston-Tillotson University.

No list of black athletes that changed the world would be complete without the Texas Western college basketball team of 1966. Prior to that season, no major college basketball team had ever had five African American players in the starting lineup. But that unheard of squad pulled off a miracle year that ended with them beating Kentucky, 72-65, in the National Championship Game.
