Laura Thompson Headed for Runoff August 2nd to Secure District 120 Interim State Rep Seat
Laura Thompson is changing the game, as it relates to the District 120 State Rep contest. The seat has always been held by a Democrat and when Thompson decided to run as an Independent many eyebrows were raised and lots of snickering went on behind the scenes. With a sense of humility, Thompson held her head up and forged forward, just like she's known to do in any project that she undertakes. An opportunity presented itself for Thompson to run in the Special Election in May and she rose to the occasion and decided to go for it. Thompson was a victor in the race. Although she came in first, she didn't get fifty percent of the vote, so she is faced with a runoff. Much to the surprise of many, Thompson was the number one vote getter out of four opponents. She was the one Independent out of all her Democrat opponents. She could very well make history in August if she is able to pull off a victory for the interim seat.
