TAAN Celebrates One Year and Is a Global Portal Today!

On December 11, 2011, The African American Network (TAAN) began testing the waters to see if there was an interest and a market for news that affected African Americans, both locally and globally.  We started out by writing about some critical areas that affect African American like literacy, child molestation, job creation and recreation; prison and slavery of African American men, Christmas Shopping and the list goes on.

We found that the interest of the topics published on our blog were far reaching and had a global interest...what started out as a blog about San Antonio, Texas has become a worldwide portal for information about education, children, business leaders, ordinary people, politics, community and more.

As we move into another holiday season and another year...we cherish the memories and accomplishments of ordinary, yet extraordinary people in communities across the country.

We've only chipped a tiny tip of the iceberg...there are so many stories of interest to be told.  We have covered and provided information on major events in the United States that affect our communities, cities, states, and other countries across the globe.

We covered the presidential election, encouraged people to get out to vote, showed reviews of the presidential debates, reviews of African Americans that have spoken at the Democratic National Conventions in the past; posted pleas from San Antonio pastors encouraging the community to get out to vote.  We have watched locals like Sam Hurd, a San Antonio native, experience a major life change from decisions that led down the wrong path.  We followed the Trayvon Martin case and still await how Zimmerman will be punished for his alleged murder of a young man who was walking in a gated community where is father lived.

We talked about Kobe Bryant's divorce, Whitney Houston's death, Etta James death, the birth of Beyonce and Jay-Z's first baby; the suicide of Don Cornelius, the accomplishments of Mohummad Ali; the accomplishments of local business people in San Antonio; scenes from Who's Who in San Antonio; scenes from the Martin Luther King Jr. March in San Antonio; the resignation of VIA Metropolitan Transit, President and CEO; the shooting of movie goers in Colorado and more.

We are convinced that TAAN is a viable portal for information and a venue to learn about important events that affect African Americans, not only in the United States, but countries globally like...Argentina, Belarus, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, India, Belgium, China, Indonesia, France, Denmark, Gabon and Malaysia.

Without any marketing at all, we have managed to reach all these countries and over 2,000 viewers per month.  Just imagine what is going to happen in 2013, once we start really promoting the blog.  We have huge expansion plans, so stay engaged and invite others to take a look at what is about to happen with the African American Network. (TAAN).
