Laura Thompson Headed for Runoff August 2nd to Secure District 120 Interim State Rep Seat

Laura Thompson is changing the game, as it relates to the District 120 State Rep contest. The seat has always been held by a Democrat and when Thompson decided to run as an Independent many eyebrows were raised and lots of snickering went on behind the scenes.

With a sense of humility, Thompson held her head up and forged forward, just like she's known to do in any project that she undertakes.  An opportunity presented itself for Thompson to run in the Special Election in May and she rose to the occasion and decided to go for it.  Thompson was a victor in the race. Although she came in first, she didn't get fifty percent of the vote, so she is faced with a runoff.

Much to the surprise of many, Thompson was the number one vote getter out of four opponents.  She was the one Independent out of all her Democrat opponents. She could very well make history in August if she is able to pull off a victory for the interim seat.

Thompson also plans to be on the November ballot in the general election, where if she clinches the interim position, she will be positioned as the incumbent and poised to win the election in November as well.

Historically, Thompson is known to take on projects larger than most people and win, so it would be no surprise if she is able to win both elections and become the next State Representative, (as the interim) and be sworn in January 2017, as the first Independent State Rep in history to be sworn in since 1936.

Thompson is a trendsetter, trailblazer and is always doing what appears to be impossible to others. Her top priorities are education, technology, small business, transportation and the arts.  She is a nontraditional, independent thinker and has the ability to work with literally everyone to make a plan come together.
